The Sangoma SS7 Media Gateway can be purchased to work in a number of models:
Single "Box" Model
The complete solution is installed in one server. This solution is appropriate in systems where transcoding is not required.
Dual "Box" Model
Asterisk® is installed in one box and the rest of the solution is installed in another. This can accommodate up to 16 E1 lines and transcoding because the telephony engine (Asterisk® or CallWeaver™) is running on a separate machine.
Distributed Model / Clustering Solution
Although all solutions can be upgraded to this model, this solution is recommended for the ultimate in scalability when the ability to scale is a known requirement at the initial install. In this solution, the Sangoma SS7 Media Gateway Software is divided between two separate servers with Asterisk® running on a third server.
